There are several diet options to follow after colon cancer surgery to prevent it from occurring again and again. Consume diet rich in antioxidants as much as possible. Antioxidants will fight the colorectal cancer cells. They will improve the immune system of the body as well as destroy the harmful free radicals in the body. Food rich in calcium, folic acid and vitamin D are good source to fight against colon cancer. Also consume green leafy vegetables and citrus fruits such as tomatoes and lemon.

Milk products such as cheese, yogurt is proved to be useful in fighting colon cancer. After the colon surgery, eat food containing ample of fiber because it will remove all the waste materials from the digestive tract at rapid rate. Food containing high fat contents must be avoided as it will get deposited in the stomach and will increase the chance of colon cancer. Immediately after colon cancer, start consuming fresh fruits juices and vegetables soup.

Avoid consuming raw vegetables as it will develop gas. Beverages such as alcohol and wine must be avoided strictly to avoid stress on the digestive tract because after surgery, your digestive tract is weak and cannot tolerate pressure.
