Lung Cancer
Surgically removing the cancer, chemotherapy or radiation therapy are some methods to recover from lung cancer. The decision of which technique to be used depends on the extent to which the tumor has spread into the body and the location of tumor.
Surgical method:
Surgical treatment is followed at the initial stage of the lung cancer development where the infected part is removed but there is no guarantee of 100% cure because the cancer has spread to other parts and will recur in the future, but this technique definitely prolongs the patient’s life.
Radiation therapy:
Doctors use this therapy if the patients refuses for surgery or surgery is impossible due to development of tumors in the regions of trachea or lymph node making the surgery extremely risky. In radiation therapy high energy x-rays are used to kill the lung cancer cells through use of machine or a radioactive substance is placed inside the body of the patient.
Chemotherapy:
This treatment is followed when the person is in the last stage and will prolong the life of the person by four to five months. The patient is given doses of drugs which will stop the cancer cells from multiplying.
